I dream of
water/ a blue expanse/ the gentle curve of the earth/ a thread of horizon unraveling and infinite.
aloneness
is that infinite horizon.
I return to the shore of
a moody lake like an ocean
held by waves steady and unforgiving
if loneliness is drowning
in waves of absence
then alone is swimming back to the self,
to the place
where the lake
and
sky blend into one
blue canvas for a
bird to dance
or take
flight.
