ABOUT THE ARTIST

 

Jacqueline Suskin is a writer and performance poet based in Los Angeles. She is the author of The Collected (Publication Studio, 2010), Go Ahead & Like It (Ten Speed Press, 2014) and The Edge of The Continent Volume One (Rare Bird, 2018). Known for her ongoing multidisciplinary work with a project she calls Poem Store, Suskin composes improvisational poetry for patrons on her manual typewriter. Poem Store has been her main occupation since 2009 and has taken her around the world with her typewriter in tow for workshops, weddings, , speaking engagements, parties, residencies, festivals and more. Suskin has been featured in New York Times, T Magazine, LA Times, The Atlantic, and various other publications. For years she wrote weekly at the Hollywood Farmers' Market, she has collaborated with fashion brands Alice + Olivia and Nasty Gal, she was honored by Michelle Obama at the White House as a Turnaround Artist, and recently created an installation for Nike in an attempt to find endless ways to bring poetry into the mainstream.
